New volunteering opportunities... Marie Curie Marie Curie is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the community caring for terminally ill patients in their own homes. Marie Curie Cancer Care's Great Daffodil Appeal is one of the most widely recognised appeals of its kind in the country and Great Daffodil Appeal Collectors are pivotal to its success. Volunteers are needed to join the rota to help with this year's appeal during March. Just a couple or hours of your free time would be very welcome. Great Ormond Street Hospital Great Ormond Street Hospital's fundraising team aim to raise over £50 million per year to support the hospital with items of equipment, research and development to benefit the patients. Currently needed are people with a knowledge of the local area to distribute posters publicising a fundraising event to take place early in May. Volunteers with a few hours to spare, who are able to get around the town may find this opportunity interesting. Accuro Accuro supports families with a child with a learning and/or physical disability by providing volunteer Shared Carers to give the family a much needed break, and the child with an enjoyable experience. Volunteers need no special skills, just common sense, patience, possibly previous experience of children with disabilities and the time to commit to look after a child which could be a couple of hours per week, or perhaps overnight. All volunteers are given thorough training and support.
